Sunday School Cannibal
03:33
|
|||
it's been awhile
since you asked me to park
the van
in sodium street light
and you spit in your palm
and asked if i
could keep a secret
and said, "there's mountains in the west
where the cavemen would play chess
rather than talk about the bad times or
their totally enormous
primal foreheads"
now my hands will smell like the
stink of fresh meat when I'm
through with you
and your hands will smell like the
stink of fresh meat when you're
through with me
sunday school cannibal
holding hands
our closest friends
don't recognize our compositions
anymore
sunday school cannibal
lowly lovers take scrappy strums
on rusty string
not capable of tone
anymore
you said, "divine and vaguely crude
i found god in you"
and in between the silver sinews of your skin
i found it i found it

Hospital Scenes 1-3

you're feeling anxious
while i'm high strung
your body never failed you
not once
til' chain smoking
without giving your lungs a break
your heart decided to skip
a beat
you're feeling anxious
while i'm high strung
we're in the presence of some
pregnant human
and surrounded by
a bloody mess
of wrinkled and tired
scrubs the state was
so much more than i could
take
you're feeling anxious
while i'm high strung
a bird shit on you when i was
done
choking
on a pretty cork shaped
piece of steak
could've been a problem
but our ER bills got paid
by the state

Liam

she sits in her car
bricks sit on her shoulders
even weeks from the start
anticipation lingers
and despite gravity
tears well up in her eyes
but they do not fall
when you look in those eyes
deeply you see it
an orange growing flame
anxious and shameful
so she's reading books
bingeing series and video games
in an effort to burn it away
just take a look with those new wet eyes
there's a boy named liam and he wants your attention
across the playground sun-soaked sand that
dries our tears before they ever have a chance
to break
liam said
you're not allowed in our kingdom of shade again
but you ran past the gates with a
smile on your face and you
climbed them anyway
if you were to fall
i don't think i could take it
your breath would become bloody
hastened and stunted
and i'd jam my ear to your chest
with an ugly face
but the tear would refuse to break
but that doesn't matter anymore cause you
wrote me a letter on crumpled up paper
"it is with such great joy that i say--
i'm the ruler of the oak tree today!"
to weave an exit
would leave me crushed
i'm warm and blushing
thanks to your touch
you take
your modern form
behind counters at the grocery store
i don't want or expect you to
store it away
but that doesn't matter anymore cause you
wrote me a letter on crumpled up paper
"it is with such great joy that i say--
i'm the ruler of the oak tree
the ruler of the oak tree today~"
panic's just a
place people put you into
darling
i'll let you bite the
skin of my red apple eyelids
darling

Waterpark

red eyes
a hanging backpack you'll
grow into
a slow breeze brings a shiver
like a wave
across a crowd
waist-high
dead eyes
a frozen look on a face
that's too young for it
the adult say they're sorry
as am i
sorry as am i
this is your reminder that
this car moves fast
so its shaking all around its
window panes
and the kids play
la-de-da etc.
until their parents are away
"hey it's okay"

Aussie
05:46
|

we fall
like frogs in their swimming
holes
late night night among the
humming bugs
and shared a laugh
we were 12 years
old
we fought
with our lips like battered
fish
furriness in the butter dip
white iris, i wish
your dog would have stayed
fast airfare is all the rage this year
we're lookin' round your parents garden
their on vacation
you lost your dog
we're hanging flyers
they're having fun
in spite of us
it's easy to forget that
it's not
it's getting late
i'll sink
into the corner of this room
with you
as you turn to madness from this
furry absence
but i'm not ready to give up so
easily
could be an
armadillo or our
darling shepherd in the
chicken lane
